30 days

Well shoot, the ning nablopomo doesn’t work on this wordpress blog. So imagine the little badge here that says..ok I’m doing Nablopomo, cause I am.

So today begins Nablopomo and I’m not ready for it. I/we haven’t slowed down for over a week. We had our giant Halloween party on the 27th, which neccessitated 2 weeks of planning and cleaning. 2 days of cooking too. It went really well but we haven’t stopped since then. J’s mom came in the night before the party and the Bean is over the moon about it. The day after the party, Sunday ,we tried to hit the new wee ren faire, but that didn’t work because the Bean passed out in the car for the first time in ages. And honestly we were all pretty tired.I’ve been behind since Monday–the regular chores on top of the extra chores on top of the cleanup for the party. And we’re all out of whack because J’s mom is here and while that’s really wonderful, it just throws off our usual rhythm. It’s good to have her visit, but does show just how much we are creatures of habit.

I can’t figure out why all of us want to take naps all of a sudden too. That’s strange. Weather change? Or perhaps a hex?

Then the Bean suddenly sprouted two new teeth and possibly her six year molars without losing any of her baby teeth. So she’s been running a fever off and on for the last two days. I was up with her all night before Halloween , it hit 104 a couple of times. She stayed home from school, started seeming better and we went out for Halloween on the square. She was a bit listless but got into it and then wanted to go out in our neighborhood when we got back. She ended up staying upa bit late , because it was Halloween and Halloween, aside from being our Anniversary (7 now) is our favorite holiday. And this morning again she was running the 104 fever. She was tired all day and had a nap, something she doesn’t really do anymore. And her fever hit again at dinner time. And lo there was much cuddling and sniping between mom and dad as we were worried and a warmish bath and more cuddling. And now I’m trying not to google myself into insanity. She probably doesn’t have Tularemia or Rocky Mountain spotted fever. It’s probably her teeth. It’s just weird when it hangs on for a couple of days like this. And it ticks me off that all the sites say “no you don’t have a fever when you are teething,” because that is utter bullshit. Every single time a tooth popped through as a baby she had a fever and other assorted and messy issues. So why would permanent teeth be any different. And why doesn’t anyone want to admit this happens?

We also found out her pediatrician doesn’t have anyone on call. How weird. They did in SF. They did in Chicago and Barrington. Is this just not something they do here? J’s doc also went on vacation without someone covering him. I’ve never heard of that, and growing up with my mother’s boyfriend/husband being a surgeon I thought you had to.

This wasn’t supposed to turn into a “what I did this week,” type post but the navel diving I’d planned has to wait until the Bean is better. It will be better writing here, when she’s better. There just isn’t much you can think or care about when your kidlet is sick.

So, day one. I made all 30 last year, let’s see if I can again.

Hi! I came over from NaBloPoMo. I’m challenging myself to comment on as many blogs as possible this month.

I hope your little Bean feels better soon! I noticed on your sidebar it says you’re reading Stardust… How do you like it? It’s one of the few Neil Gaiman books I’ve read. I hadn’t even heard of M is for Magic. Perhaps I’ll check it out.

    Happy Posting!

Hey thanks! I just opened up commenting too. I’m trying to figure out how to get comments, but keep out the spam.
I’m actually re reading stardust (or have finished, I haven’t updated my books in awhile) and I really loved it. I do love 95% of what he writes though.

    Good luck this month!

  3. Hi, I’m Eve. I found you on the blogroll at NaBloPoMo. I’m trying to visit as many bloggers as possible and leave a short message to say hello. I can be found at http://Adamswife.Wordpress.com.

I share a home with my daughter and her 4 kids (her husband lives here, too – in fact he pays most of the bills). Living with the little ones I understand about your little bean. Seems like they can be fine one minute and burning up the next. Hope she is feeling better soon.
