Day 18
Project Reverb prompt: “Did you have an “ah ha†moment this year? Was it a big one? Or just a small enlightenment?â€
Dammit, I had a long one written and it was eaten.
It was a series of ahas.
1. This is how I look. It is not a phase. I will probably keel over in combat boots or converse. I like it and it isn’t likely to change.
2. You only get one life (probably? just this way with these exact people) so letting anything or anyone get in the way of these moments that won’t come again isn’t just stupid it is wrong.
3. Sometimes things are great, sometimes they are horrible. Things will not stay either way. Contentment is what you shoot for.
4.Things change: relationships, friendships, places you live. Some relationships, like the one with your child, are meant to be forever (at least mine with mine!) most are not. Endings are part of life, so is enduring.
5. If you are lucky you will have some long lived friendships. They have ups and downs. Sometimes
you won’t talk. Sometimes you will come back together after many years. Sometimes you will hit a huge bump in your road that will break something. If you are lucky you can mend them and become stronger and more beautiful in the broken places. (I’m thinking specifically of S, L and L).
6. Sometimes you have to walk away–sometimes the sheer amount of negativity directed toward you is harmful and you have to let go. Find your place of peace as quickly as you can but honor your anger, because that is how you find your boundaries. Maybe time will heal, maybe it won’t. Sometimes things just run their course.
Reverb14 prompt: “In the busyness of the everyday, taking time to nourish the soul doesn’t reach the top of the ‘to do’ list as often as it should. What nourishes your soul? How would you like to incorporate more of this into your life in 2015?â€
I didn’t make movies with my kid or write enough this year. I let volunteerism get in the way. I missed moments because of being tired and wrung out. In 2015 I will remember to put my family above all things–even helping people I want to help. I feel like I missed part of this year with my kid because I let people make unreasonable demands.
At the same time, I will appreciate those who treat us with kindness and cherish our friendship with even more care. Time spent with family and people who love and support you (and who you can love and support without robbing yourself ) are worth so much.
Also, this year? I’m going to see if I can get a Kintsugi kit. It just makes sense.
