You are the Music, while the music lasts. My favorite Eliot quote. It is now the subtitle of my blog, but it used to be the title. I changed it because I felt myself growing older and stepping away from the dance floor. Â The name of my blog comes from a song a friend wrote so long ago when we all danced.
Music. That has always been the source of inspiration for me. I’ve always written with music. I used to study with it and I would even read with music in the background. I love so many many different kinds. My iPod lurches from Tom Lehrer to Apoptygma Berzerk to Johnny Cash to Max Raabe and back again through Abney Park and Kurt Weill and Laurie Anderson. I love a bit of Mumford and Sons and some Moby is good for your soul when you can’t think with words mixed in. Piano music has often put me to sleep at night and it is just about time to drive with the windows down with Come on Eileen by Dexy’s Midnight Runners at (nearly) full volume.
When I stopped listening to music, almost any kind, that’s when I knew I needed to make some big  changes. Not just the move but other ones. They are all in process now and the music is returning, one beat at a time.
This is so true. Music changes us on a cellular level. How often I forget this!
Music is such an inspiration isn’t it? Glad you are finding your way back to your true song.
Thank you Alana and thank you for what you’ve done for April Moon. It’s helping again to pull me from the darkness of winter.
