No one can and no one may. We ourselves must walk the path.
I Â think that was the Buddha. To me it means We have to make the choices, we have to make the decisions on what we fix about our lives and when.
I don’t want to change what I eat, BUT I must in order to be healthy.
I don’t want to exercise, BUT I must in order to live longer.
I didn’t want to stop smoking BUT I needed to because I have asthma and it’s stupid.
I don’t want give up XXX (maybe I’ll tell you soon) BUT it isn’t working anymore. As a matter of fact
it isn’t just that it isn’t working, it is actually starting to backfire. BUT how will I ever be able to  (fill in the blank).
That’s tomorrow, that’s not today.
BUT is a funny word, it means except, apart, other than. It is used to contrast one thing with another.
I’m not going to figure this all out today, BUT I’m going to get something worked out.
I’m not going to give up, BUT keep trying.  Because it isn’t just about me, BUT about them J and E —and that is the purpose.
I could add stuff to this list of things I don’t want to give up, but really, really should. For all the reasons you mention–health (physical and/or mental), personal satisfaction, and because whatever crutch I’ve been relying on to get me through no longer does the job. I keep pulling the lever, even though the cheese doesn’t taste good anymore.
Sometimes letting go sucks. I’m right there with you in this!
I love that…”the cheese doesn’t taste good anymore.” Well said. It is stale and old and while it used to taste good now it is only the memory of how it used to taste good really. Yep.
Wise and well written. Looking forward to reading more!
