The day almost nothing happened.

The day almost nothing happened.

So I guess it’s time to start typing and see what springs into my brain. If anything. I’ve had a sick beanlet–green green stinky diarrhea. I think it’s from the dye (or food coloring or?) used in a lollipop she had in Eureka (a frosting black cat on the front) and then two days later a cookie with a purple frosting butterfly. Today has been about much cuddling and naps. She told me she misses school too and wrote her teacher a letter with spelling help from me. I pretended to be Lola from Charlie and Lola and she taught me how to write the alphabet so I’m not feeling like the several episodes of Strawberry Shortcake and the Trollz has irrevocably harmed her.

We’re trying to get her back to her regular diet of gruel and dry bread. No– but we eat vegetarian several days a week and have chicken or fish the other two. And no additives or preservatives, pretty much everything is made from fresh. Yeah, except those Halloween oreos. I suppose I should be proud that I’ve been careful about her diet and I am. I just hope I haven’t ruined her for living in this additive loaded world. I can’t have MSG –anaphylaxis –so even before she was born I started being careful about what we ate, and it’s carried over. I think I got so many chemicals as a kid then later as an adult working 70 hours a week and surviving on fast food that I overdosed my system– I don’t want that to happen to her. The time I stopped breathing pretty much decided me on that.

And to make us into giant freaks we don’t eat at McDonald’s, Chick Fil A, Burger King, Arbys….or most of the rest of them. Subway, yes, and Quiznos and ,I’m not perfect, I must at times take comfort in Sonic. I’m not sure I could live without French fries from somewhere, I’d wither up and die (places hand ever so gently palm up on forehead and floats gently to the chaise).

I haven’t been able to walk this week or last –though we did get to walk her to school one or two days. so I’m feeling sluggish. And now that it gets dark at 5:30 and it’s finally turned into fall all I want to do is curl up with a book or twelve. I haven’t had a chance to get to the library though. I need to go sniff books and glut myself on words.

I was supposed to go out with some of the girls to try a new restaurant tonight, but I suspect J and his mom won’t get back until it’s too late to go. I feel a bit out of sorts this week,

  1. Basil and I went through a kick almost two years ago where we basically stopped eating processed foods. (It started because I was doing this “migraine diet” to try and figure out what triggers my headaches, so I cut out caffeine, MSG, nitrites/nitrates, fermented dairy, citrus, etc and then slowly added most things back in to identify triggers). We make sandwiches or eat leftover for lunch, and dinner is always from scratch. We get fast food occasionally, but it’s usually Wendy’s, where Petunia’s favorite meal is a turkey-cheese sandwich and yogurt with “sprinkles” (granola).

You know they’ve done studies where MSG and other additives actually cause brain lesions! The studies were so compelling that they removed msg from formula (why was it there in the first place?!) and baby food. But they’ve been sneaking it back under other names. I know if I cook it or put it together from real food, you know vegetables and grains etc–I’m pretty sure none of us will end up in the hospital.
I did the migraine diet too–it’s how my endocrinologist figured out the MSG connection–much better than the tumour he thought it was at first!~
